It's an excellent source of leads for PR, partnerships and sales. In fact, according to this survey, 94.2% of journalists and 49% of decision-makers are active on LinkedIn. If you seize every opportunity, you can run your business via LinkedIn alone, feeding off of the exposure you create and leads that get generated as a result. Yet, few brands invest enough time and resources on LinkedIn marketing, because they haven't experienced the results of a well-executed LinkedIn marketing strategy. In some cases, it's because the digital marketing manager can't find enough resources for dedicated LinkedIn marketing. | | | Here are 5 marketing tools that can help you build a compelling brand presence on LinkedIn, without expending much of your resources or effort.

However, few are as significant as the one that took place in February 2011. Dubbed as the “Panda,” there was nothing cute about this update as it hit thousands of webmasters with severe penalties for violating content guidelines. | | | It is estimated that Panda affected about 12% of all searches which may not seem all that significant until you consider the fact that Google processes over 3.5 billion searches a day. Looking back, Panda was essentially Google’s way of declaring war against web spam and other black-hat SEO practices.
Fast forward to 2018, and we have not seen any Panda-specific updates from Google in a while. The last one was in 2016 and only stated that Panda had become an integral element of Google’s core search engine algorithm.
So is Panda still relevant today?
To get the answer, we need to understand what exactly was the Panda algorithm. Simply put, Panda was a Google search engine update designed to target poor quality content on web pages. | | | | | | |

Why do I believe that Meta Descriptions are going to disappear? First, let's clarify what they are and what they have been used for.
When your website or webpage appears in search, displayed first is the Meta Page Title followed by a snippet describing what the page or site is all about. Traditionally this piece of text would be the scripted Meta Description, although Google has always reserved the right to show an alternative. The importance of this snippet, which has no SEO value, was the opportunity to entice a visitor to click the link through to the website. |
|
|
Last December Google surprised us by increasing the length of the "snippet" in Search Results from 160 to 320 characters. It was suggested, or recommended, that webmasters do not attempt to revise and increase existing meta descriptions but to leave it to Google to decide whether to use the existing one or expand on it if appropriate.
I wrote a Blog Post on the 17th December entitled "Will Google kill Meta Page Descriptions?" It didn't get a lot of traction, but some people did comment that they agreed this might well happen. |

One of the main SEO factors that Google and other search engines take into account when ranking your website are backlinks. If there are plenty of links pointing from other, reputable websites to yours, that signals the search engines that your website offers valuable content, and that it can be trusted. As a result, your website would show up higher inside the search engine results for a particular keyword. But, as is the case with just about any other SEO practice, link building has been used and abused all over the map. Links are often exchanged or bought, but Google has gotten smarter about identifying this sort of practice, thanks to its advanced algorithms.
Also, there have been plenty of other things which have complicated things for SEO and link building specialists. The emergence of social media, voice search, and AI has changed the game, which means that links are no longer as important. That doesn't mean that they are on their way out. You should still aim to build quality links, but you should also focus on "linkless backlinks" or "linkless mentions", which are exactly what they sound like. Every time someone mentions your business or brand online, be it on social media, forums, or even inside comments or reviews, Google and Bing will pick up on it, and if the mention is relevant, they will use it as a ranking factor. |
