Progressive Web apps are one of the more interesting technology concepts to surface in late 2015. Developed by Google, the idea is to create an enhanced website that features app-like qualities.
What are progressive Web apps?
In short, a progressive Web app is nothing more than a traditional website, but with added features, provided by concepts we already know, but bundled in a wrapped package called progressive Web apps.
The term was first used by Alex Russel, a Google developer, and covers three separate functions; a service worker, an app shell and a JSON manifest. Together these make up what we know call a PWA, and the combination of this is quite powerful. |
