The Power Of CTR

Hi Queruel,

I'm going to teach you how to flood your website with Native Advertising traffic without raising your bid.

One of the most common questions I see here at Native Ads is "How much should I bid to get lots of traffic?" Most advertisers don't love my answer at first. That answer is "It Depends".

Stay with me though, because the great news (and the reason I'm writing you today) is there's an easy way to maximize your traffic without raising your bid by a single penny.

Native Ads Rewards Advertisers That Create Engaging Ads

Since you bid on Cost Per Click (CPC) at Native Ads, our publishers only earn when your ad gets clicked. That means if you have an ad that gets clicked like crazy (has a high click through rate - AKA HIGH CTR) then we have a huge incentive to reward you with lots of traffic (which is exactly what the algorithms will do).

It doesn't matter if somebody bids 50% higher than you. If your ad gets double the clicks then you are getting more impressions (chances to get a click) than them.

So How Does A Native Advertiser Increase Their CTR?

On most webpages, your ad is one of two to three HUNDRED links on the page (if you don't believe that then go to any CNN article and count the links on the page… there's a lot!). Your goal is to be that one link which jumps out to your target audience out of all of those links.

There are two main techniques to make your native ads more competitive:

1. Use an image that jumps off the page and grabs people's attention
2. Write an irresistible headline the target audience can't help but click on

So what makes an image or headline jump off the page? The easiest way to make anything jump of the page is to make it 1) Rare or 2) Interesting.

Rare images and headline concepts work because our brains are attracted to things we don't see every day. Try to go beyond those generic stock photos and find that picture that has something unique, eye-catching, or strange about it.

We can also go the exact opposite direction, and figure out what people are interested in right now. What events, people, and things are trending this week?

That doesn't mean we can't use both concepts at once though. Once you find something people are interested in, try to put a rare spin on it by approaching it a slightly different way from everybody else.

Let's Wrap This Up!

If your ads don't get clicked, don't take it personally, and DON'T GIVE UP. Simply try a few other headlines and images. Once you find that winning combination the traffic will flood in. Very few advertisers find a winning combo on the first try!

BONUS TIP! Native Ads runs every ad through a Discovery Phase. This is where we figure out how competitive your ad is in comparison to the others running at that time. It really helps if you keep your bid a bit higher than your target bid during this phase. Once the traffic starts flowing simply drop your bid by a penny or two every four to eight hours until you've reached your target bid, or the traffic starts to die down.

I hope these tips help! It's actually quite easy to flood your article or landing page with engaged traffic using Native Advertising. The key is to make your image/headline the most competitive piece of the page it will show up on.
